Programming a GE Universal Remote with a Sceptre TV using Direct Code Entry
The “Direct Code Entry” technique is useful for those who are familiar with the device’s codes and want to program a GE universal remote control with it. If you know your remote’s codes, the detailed instructions for programming it are provided below.
- Step 1: Find the code list (CL3, CL4, CL5 or CL6) for the specific device that you want to program your universal remote control with.
- Step 2: Manually switch on the device you wish to control and turn off any other devices placed near it.
- Step 3: Press and hold down the “Setup Button” until the red light on the remote control turns on and remains on.
- Step 4: Once the red LED is on, release the “Setup Button”.

- Turn on your TV.
- Press and hold the TV button (for about 5 seconds) until the power button illuminates. Don’t let go of the TV button.
- While still holding the TV button, type the first code for your TV (from the TV codes list below).
- The codes can be 2, 3, 4 or 5 digits depending on the universal remote control version.
- Keep holding the TV button and check if the power key is lit.
- If the power key stays lit without flashing, that means you have entered the correct code.
- In that case you can release the TV button and start using your RCA remote to test the various control functions of your TV.
- Sometimes, not all of the TV functions may work. In that case, you have to reprogram the RCA universal remote with the next code of your TV.
- If you entered the wrong code, the power key will blink four times.
