From what I can tell, the ZP/A is currently one of the most popular iPhone models because it is used in several countries around the world. What is the ZP/A iPhone version? That’s a question I get frequently.
In case you’ve ever wanted to know what the heck a “ZP/A iPhone” is or if you’ve ever seen one for sale online and weren’t sure if it was real or just another iPhone model, then you’ve come to the right place because I’m going to clarify your doubts in this post.
What does ZP/A stand for on an iPhone?
ZP/A is the region code that identifies iPhones supplied by Apple to authorized resellers in specific countries in Asia and Australia including: Singapore, Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Taiwan, Malaysia, and the Philippines.
For example, MU7G3ZP/A is the part number for an iPhone 15 Pro Max 1TB Black Titanium. As described in the example, ZP/A are the last three letters in the part number.

Which countries use the ZP/A iPhone?
When I Googled the following query: “zp/a iPhone country,” I got the answer in the screenshot below:
The answer in the image above is wrong. How do I know this? Well, I worked as an electronics retail sales agent for a leading electronics retailer in the UAE for seven years. And the majority of the phones they sell are iPhones. So I got to learn a thing or two about their model and part numbers.
Clarifying the ZP/A iPhone country of origin
Singapore was among the first nations worldwide to adopt the ZP/A code for their iPhones.
Apple has been using the ZP/A code on Singaporean iPhones prior to 2021. And I am not merely babbling; let me demonstrate.
Techwalls.com is an exceptionally reliable resource for details pertaining to iPhone models. Here’s a blog post they wrote back in 2020 about the differences between iPhone 12 Pro Max models.
As shown in the screen shot above (taken from techwalls.com), you can see that the part numbers for iPhone 12 Pro Max models from Singapore all end in ZP/A. Similarly, this year’s iPhone 15 Pro Max models for Singapore all end in ZP/A.

If you are wondering how I know all these part numbers, know that it’s not so hard to find out yourself. In the later part of this blog post, I’ll show you an easy way to find the part numbers for iPhones from several countries.
Note that it’s not only Singapore that uses the ZP/A iPhone country code. Over the past few years, Apple has been progressively expanding the number of countries that it ships this model to.
Mercantile, Pakistan’s official Apple product supplier, announced on their Facebook page in November 2021 that Apple has designated the ZP/A version of the iPhone as the official one for Pakistan.
In recent times, Apple has started using the ZP/A code for several other countries, including Malaysia, Australia, Thailand, New Zealand, and even the Philippines.
- The previous iPhone country code for Thailand was TH/A. But with the iPhone 14 and later, it is now also ZP/A as explained by the Thai site thailand.postsen.
- Similarly, the previous code for Taiwan iPhones was TA/A. But with the arrival of the iPhone 15 series, tech sites like iPhonewired.com are announcing that Apple now supplies the ZP/A iPhone to Taiwan.
- Australia and New Zealand previously used the X/A iPhone country code right up to the iPhone 13. But they seemed to now be using the ZP/A iPhone country code for the iPhone 14 and later.
- Other countries that use the ZP/A iPhone model for the iPhone 14 and later include Malaysia and the Philippines.

Based on my research, I have compiled a list of countries that use the ZP/A iPhone country code. Note that there could be more countries that use ZP/A but these are the ones that I am aware of.

Clarifying the origin ZA/A iPhones
There’s a lot of confusion between ZP/A and ZA/A iPhones. So for the sake of clarity, let me briefly discuss the ZA/A iPhone models. Later on, I will provide a clear and detailed explanation of the differences between these two models in a different blog post.
Contrary to the misleading statement in the screenshot above, Hong Kong and Macau don’t use the ZP/A code on their iPhone part numbers.
Instead, they have been bearing the ZA/A code for a number of years. Let’s take the iPhone 15 Pro Max series as an example. Below are the part numbers for the Hong Kong and Macau models.

Ever since the iPhone XS, Apple started shipping iPhones that support two Nano SIMs to regions governed by China (i.e., China Mainland, Hong Kong, and Macau).
Due to regional policies, the models that Apple ships to Hong Kong and Macau are typically marginally distinct from those that are supplied to the Chinese mainland. That’s why the iPhone 15 Pro Max supplied to China Mainland has different part numbers, as shown below:

How to verify which countries the ZP/A iPhone originates from
It’s not so difficult to independently determine the country of origin for the ZP/A iPhone. All you have to do is visit a renowned online shop in the country you want to check (in this case Singapore) that sells iPhones meant for use in that country. They sometimes post the model/part numbers of the phones they sell.
After some thorough research, I found a leading electronics retailer named Courts Asia Limited. They have branches in Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Here’s the link to their official Singapore website.
Now all I had to do was type the term “iPhone 15 Pro Max” in the search bar on their Singaporean website. Then randomly visit any of the results to check the device part number. I found that all the iPhones they sell use the ZP/A part number (see screenshot below).
